Deep Sea

A bit of sadness but also a whole lot of hope, wonder, and respect for the world in all its mystery. This was the feeling I hoped to capture with this piece.

I started the process when I stumbled upon this georgeous shadowed photoshop file that I had been working on for another project of mine. It felt to me a bit like the bottom of the ocean. I was inspired by the thought of massive deep sea creatures lurking in the depths of this image.

I used a wide variety of images and sources as inspiration for this piece.

I added the three rectangles to symbolize a moment of pause, of quiet contemplation. I also wanted people to question somewhat the intention of it and, if no personal meaning was gleaned, then at the very least, symbolically, the image could be used to step into a mode of deeper thinking and curiosity.

Using some leftover assets from the Deep Sea project, I created a mini collage from the mako shark and overlayed the school of fish png and a red square to create this visually interesting digital collage.
